She resides on the island of Nevis on Vervain Estate with her close knitted family. Khalia is intelligent, caring and respectful of others. From a young age, Khalia was eager to learn new things and always looked for ways to improve anything she did. She attended the Maude Crosse Preparatory School and graduated as Salutatorian. Currently, Khalia is a well-rounded fifth form student at the Charlestown Secondary School.

She enjoys reading, dancing, poetry, baking, acting and photography. In school, she loves learning about the human body and Tourism. Khalia believes that her dream to travel the world piqued her intense interest in Tourism. She strongly feels as though Tourism should become ‘everybody’s business,’ as the Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley likes to say.

She also understands its importance to her country and would do anything to help promote Nevis as the amazing island that it is. When her late grandfather, Wendell Huggins – a well-known educator on Nevis was alive, he was her inspiration and after his passing, Khalia tries to do her best in everything to continue his legacy.

Khalia loves meeting new people and creating new experiences and knows that she can and will accomplish anything that she puts her mind to.

Mark Brantley in his Premier’s Monthly Press Conference on Tuesday announced that All fuel surcharge will be removed from domestic users of electricity and commercial users to be capped at 65 cents effective September 2022.

Other announcements made at the press conference included:

  • The return of Heroes Day Concert featuring Morgan Heritage, Freddie McGregor, Jahmiel, Green House Band, Infamous, Grand Masters Band, DJ Woodis, Selector Bobby & Toby.

  • Pilot desalination solar powered plant to be established in Nevis adding 3400 Gals per hr.

  • Retirement Package for Non Established Workers on schedule and will be in effect as of September 1st 2022.

  • All fuel surcharge will be removed from domestic users of electricity and commercial users to be capped at 65 cents effective September 2022

  • Major works to commence shortly on island main road from Cliff Dwellers to Camps
